Case Studies
Bagmoor Wind Farm
CMS specified Combigrid to reinforce site access roads during the installation of eight new turbines at Bagmoor Wind Farm in Normanby, near Scunthorpe. CMS designed the integrated geogrid and geotextile system to deliver high performance and cost-effective ground reinforcement for contractors, McNicholas Construction.
Three Towers Apartment Regeneration
CMS specified and supplied Envirotrak to create a permanent gravelled car parking area for the Urban Splash 3 Towers regeneration project in Manchester.
Lancaster Waste Park
CMS had to ensure rapid delivery of its specialist geogrids to keep ground reinforcement at a Bovis Lend Lease waste recycling development on schedule. The waste recycling development is built on a 50-acre ‘brownfield’ site in Lancaster, formerly used for Leyland truck testing. To prepare the ground for construction, Kiernan Construction had to first level the area, which involved excavating in-situ concrete and reinforcing the ground with the BBA and CE certified geogrid where necessary. Tesco Regional Distribution Centre
CMS specified and supplied its Slope-Guard Type 5 and Bentofix NSP 4900, erosion and clay lining materials, for two rainwater collection lagoons serving a new £65 million Tesco regional distribution centre (RDC) near Goole. As the 850,000 square foot Tesco RDC was built in an ecologically protected area, water evacuation from its roof had to be managed using environmentally friendly methods. CS-Tesco-Bentofix.pdf
Scout Moor Wind Farm
CMS conducted a value engineering exercise on behalf of McNicholas Construction, replacing the geogrid originally specified for Scout Moor Wind Farm with the more cost effective CMS SecuGrid range. This was used to provide stable foundations for 26 turbines and 12km of roads. Scout Moor Case Study.pdf
Hareshill Business Park
Situated on farmland in Greater Manchester, the new build development of Hareshill Business Park required a solution that would ensure commercial buildings were concealed from view of neighbouring residents so that local planning could be secured. The solution was a 9m high bund for which CMS Secugrid provided an efficient earth retention system. Hareshill Case Study.pdf
Yarrow Road
CMS Secugrid was selected to provide extensive soil reinforcement during a 52,500m2 ‘cut and fill’ project, at the Yarrow Road site, Dorset, in order for the construction of commercial and retail buildings to begin. Yarrow Road case study.pdf
