Durakerb
Durakerb is a revolutionary, lightweight and environmentally friendly new kerbstone that complies with Health & Safety guidelines on the manual handling of kerbstones.
Manufactured from a blend of recycled polymers (otherwise destined for landfill sites), the kerbstone has been designed to be extremely lightweight while achieving loading in excess of 25 tons.
Durakerb will help all specifiers and contractors to comply with Government aims of building a sustainable future. The standard HB2 Durakerb weighs less than 5kg, compared to the 67kg of its concrete equivalent and the Health & Safety limit of 20kg for manually handled kerbstones.
Its polymer construction means that Durakerb is extremely durable, resistant to chipping and cracking, and hence no replacement of kerbstones is required.
Features and benefits:
- Enables operatives to quickly position and lay the kerbs, with no mechanical handling and reduced working space required.
- Easy to store and transport without the use of heavy goods vehicles.
- Mitigates against repetitive strain injury, complying with the guidelines laid out in the Health and Safety Executive’s manual handling assessment charts.
- Removes the ever present temptation of installers to breach the manual handling guidelines, thereby removing the potential open ended exposure to expensive and time consuming litigation and prosecution.
- Durable and resistant to typical chemicals and road salts used in highway construction and maintenance.
- Can be installed in exactly the same way as traditional concrete kerbstones, meaning that no retraining of kerbing operatives is required.
- Trials indicate that lay rates are up to four times faster than for concrete kerbstones as its interlocking system ensures 100% alignment every time.
- Can be cut with hand tools, making less noise and dust than with the concrete equivalent, and the Durakerb is easily knocked down to level.
- Installers’ exposure to Dermatitis and other skin disorders through concrete handling are removed.
